Karlis Tirzitis

Kārlis Gunārs Tirzītis is a Latvian pianist born in 1996. He started studying piano at 4 with Felicita Šnē and Gunta Trasūne and continued his studies with Lelde Paule at the Emīls Dārziņš Music School where he graduated in 2015. Karlis is currently a student at the Latvian Academy of Music "Jāzeps Vītols" with Arnis Zandmanis, and regularly attends masterclasses by Vsevolod Dvorkin, Reinis Zariņš, Konstantin Lifschitz, Dina Yoffe, Dominique Merlet, Graham Scott, Diana Ketler. He won several prizes in national competitions and won the First Prize at the Jūrmala International Piano Competition; in 2018 he was finalist at the Lyon International PIano Competition. He regularly performs as soloist and chamber musician in Riga and other Latvian cities, as well as other European countries, playing with such orchestras as the West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra, the Emīls Dārziņš Music School Symphony Orchestra and the Vidzeme Chamber Orchestra, with the conductor Andris Vecumnieks.
